Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell new Mexico, but fell in love Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. He is now the international face of Colorado. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after performing with small folk bands. It was co-written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single after hearing it first. Danoff recorded the track just a few days later following a performance to the awe-inspiring crowd at Washington D.C.
